Discover Diving’s annual Splash In photography competition, a celebration of the Island’s rich underwater heritage, has been extended to capture the month of July as well as June.
Photographs must be submitted for judging by Wednesday 6th August.
The competition, organised by Michelle Haywood, director of Discover Diving and a keen diver herself, is in its 9th year.
Usually, all entries must be captured in Manx waters during June – but in an exciting twist for 2025 and in addition to the usual four categories of Macro, Scenic, Novelty and Biodiversity, two brand new categories have been added:
- Images taken in the Isle of Man between July 2024 and June 2025
- Images taken anywhere in the world between July 2024 and June 2025
The competition invites divers and snorkelers to submit photographic and video entries capturing the varied and beautiful marine life that can be found underwater that many people on land do not get the chance to see.
The judges select the winners and runners up for each category, and the overall winner receives a beautifully designed trophy, hand made by Dave Newsham and supported by Biosphere Isle of Man.
A portfolio of images was displayed at the annual Port Erin Festival of the Sea for visitors to enjoy and see the fascinating variety of marine wonders that can be found in our waters.
