The Londeyr Award 2025 has been presented to Skeealyn Vannin, a dynamic performance group whose creative work has brought the Manx language to new audiences. The award was announced at the official launch of Year of the Manx Language 2026 in November.

Each year, Jeebin – the Manx Language Network – presents the Londeyr Award (meaning lantern in Manx Gaelic) to a person or organisation that has made an outstanding contribution to the growth, visibility and vitality of the Manx language, recognising those who keep the light of the language shining bright for future generations.

Skeaaylyn Vannin is Manx Gaelic for ‘Stories of Mann’, and storytelling is a vital part of what makes the Isle of Man a UNESCO Biosphere; it strengthens our sense of place and identity, weaving together language, landscape and community. Groups like Skeealyn Vannin help keep these threads alive, ensuring that the stories of Mann continue to inspire and connect people with our unique environment and culture.

Formed in 2024 by Leandra Lawler of Platform Theatre School, Skeealyn Vannin brings together performers from musical theatre backgrounds who have embraced Manx language, song and story. Since its inception, the group has carried the stories of Mann across the Island and beyond, performing at community events and festivals, and even representing the Isle of Man at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany, where they shared Manx culture with audiences of thousands.

Leandra Lawler and Kristene Wilson accepted the award on behalf of the group, following a stunning performance of a medley composed by David Kilgallon at the launch event for the Year of the Manx Language Leandra and Kristene reflected on how Skeealyn Vannin began as a quiet idea and has grown into a vibrant celebration of Manx culture, bridging worlds, hearts and generations together.

Moylley diu / congratulations to Skeealyn Vannin!
