Creative Grants Announced to Celebrate the Manx Language

Culture Vannin has launched an exciting new round of grants - Treisht26, to support creative work celebrating the Manx language.

Culture Vannin has launched an exciting new round of grants - Treisht26, to support creative work celebrating the Manx language – a valued aspect of our Biosphere designation.

Treisht means trust, confidence, or hope in Manx Gaelic. The grant scheme ran for the first time during the Covid lockdown period, and it is back to support creative and language-based projects for the 2026 Year of the Manx Language

Up to 30 grants of £500 are being made available for artists, musicians, teachers, storytellers, and content creators - anybody in our Biosphere who wishes to explore and express the language in new and imaginative ways.

No fluency is required – just enthusiasm and creativity!

Treisht projects may include original artwork, music, workshops, or outreach to new audiences, and will centre on key themes: Young People & Families, Identity & Sense of Place, Community & Creativity, Research & Resources, and Lifelong Learning.

The scheme is being delivered by Jeebin, the Manx Language Network, and aims to spark a wave of inclusive, community-led celebration and connection.

Culture and language are fundamental pillars of our Biosphere status, and this initiative which encourages creativity and cultural expression, amplifies our sense of place and identity as a Biosphere nation.

Applications are open now, with the first deadline on 25 July 2025 - full details are available here
