Biosphere wallhangings

Biosphere wall-hangings have new home

Mannin Quilters’ UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man wall-hangings have a new home.

Mannin Quilters created seven spectacular wall-hangings, six depicting life in our Biosphere’s sheadings and a seventh explaining the project.

The beautifully crafted works went on a tour of venues Island-wide in the spring of 2020 and were enjoyed by many visitors, but this was cut short by Covid-19.

The wall-hangings now have a home in Legislative Buildings, Douglas, where they can be enjoyed by visitors and those holding events.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle MHK, Chair of UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man, and Geoffrey Boot MHK, Minister for Environment, Food and Agriculture, Vice-Chair, are pictured inspecting the wall-hangings in their new home, with Chris Eastham, Chair of Mannin Quilters.

It is planned to display the wall-hangings at other venues in the future, too.
