Strix is a global leader in the innovation, design, manufacture and supply of electric kettle safety controls, heating and temperature controls, steam management and water filtration technologies.

Strix has always had sustainability in mind through targeting reduction of the energy consumption of kettles. In 2020 the company set to further promote such values through developing a set of metrics to measure their core sustainability factors, leading them to establish a range of KPIs and associated targets to drive their sustainability agenda forward, with one target being net zero scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2023. To reflect the promotion of their sustainability agenda, Strix have up scaled their corporate strategy through new strategy statements:

• Vision: Establishing a world-leading innovative and sustainable technology business.

Increased emphasis has been placed on protecting our natural resources, by developing products that reduce environmental wastage through minimising energy loss during in-use consumption, as well as reducing the use of precious metals within core components. Strix core group have ISO14001 Environmental Management & ISO50001 Energy Management Systems certified with dedicated teams working on continuous improvements.

Future products will be designed in accordance with ISO14045 that focus on the whole Life Cycle including in-use emissions. The group are in the process of mapping scope 3 emissions and identifying opportunities to improve. Four bee hives have been installed at Strix Headquarters, with a variety of wild flowers growing around the site which should increase biodiversity in the area.

Staff at Strix have supported and raised money through various initiatives for the following charities: Breast Cancer Awareness, Isle Listen, Save the Children UK, Macmillan Cancer, Junior Achievement and Mannin Cancer. Strix also supported STEM Fest and the company’s Engineering Director, Nick Gibbs, became the new sector lead for the Isle of Man Chamber’s Stem Committee.

Strix has participated in the Manx Graduate Fair and Employment Skills Fair and in 2022, Strix sponsored an award for Outstanding Team Member of the Year, and sponsored a local squash team on the Island.
