For nearly two centuries, since their beginnings as the Douglas Gas Light Company, Isle of Man Energy has powered the Island with safe, reliable energy while continually evolving to help reduce carbon on the Isle of Man.

They now supply bioLPG and biomethane made from waste, providing lower carbon alternatives to natural gas that can be used like for like in any home or business already connected to the gas network. They offer highly efficient boilers, hybrid heat pumps, and smart home energy controls such as Hive and Tado, helping customers manage their energy use and costs more effectively. They also offer carbon alternatives to natural gas that can be used like‑for‑like in any home or business already connected to the gas network.

Isle of Man Energy are actively exploring a range of future low carbon technologies, including solar panels, battery storage, and combined heat and power (CHP) engines for both domestic and commercial applications.

Isle of Man Energy strive to support the Manx community and work closely with the Salvation Army Debt Service and Age Concern to help vulnerable customers navigate energy bills, so they don’t have to choose between eating or heating during the winter months.

They continue to reduce environmental impact through:

  • Replacing aging metal mains in our network with durable, efficient plastic pipes
  • Minimising excavation on mains replacement projects
  • Reducing inter‑island travel by using Teams and video conferencing
  • Replacing fleet vehicles with more efficient models
  • Recycling metals, batteries and office waste
  • Displaying the Biosphere Pledge and showcasing the Island’s beauty through staff photography

Isle of Man Energy remains committed to delivering cleaner, smarter energy and supporting a more sustainable future for the whole island.
