The scheme, which has been operating for over 20 years, aims to help residents share journeys - to work, school, events etc. This can save money, reduce congestion and help create connections with people in your local community.
Liftshare matches drivers and passengers travelling the same route, with passengers paying small contributions to cover fuel costs. With many people driving solo on their daily commute, the opportunity to share rides presents real benefits - cheaper travel, fewer vehicles on our roads, and lower carbon emissions. It’s a win-win!
In a recent Isle of Man survey conducted by Net Zero Isle of Man, 84% of respondents said they drive to work, yet only 6 % currently lift-share. With greater uptake, the cumulative impact on traffic congestion, air quality and carbon outputs could be significant.
