Island Seafare Ltd are a seafood and shellfish sales broker and trader who sell and promote Isle of Man shellfish all over the world, as well as the positive aspects of sustainable fishing. They have full chain of custody for the supply of sustainable seafood which was certified by the Marine Stewardship Council. Island Seafare work closely with the Department of Environment, Food, and Agriculture as well as the Manx Fish Producers Organisation and local fishermen to promote sustainable fishing practices. This work involves reducing plastic waste and constantly developing new practices to reduce their carbon footprint.
Selling products on and off the Island helps boost the Isle of Man’s economy. Additionally, being able to provide these products on Island helps us become more sustainable by reducing the need for importing fishing products.
Island Seafare promote to a wide audience across Europe, keeping customers up to date on how fishing is practiced sustainably on our Island’s shores and leading by example.
By practicing sustainable fishing and encouraging local fishermen to fish for waste, Island Seafare are making a positive environmental impact and helping clean our waters - this particularly helps reduce plastic pollution.
Island Seafare engage with the local community by having direct contact with local fishermen. Additionally, they have been into schools to discuss sustainable fishing with students and promote the benefits of healthy eating.
Island Seafare are currently developing a new website which will promote the Island’s Biosphere to their audiences across Europe, and are preparing presentations to discuss sustainable fishing with customers and how they are working to protect and promote our Biosphere and the unique produce on offer from the Island.
