Biosphere Photography Competition Now Open

The UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man photography competition is now open, and we’re inviting people across the Island to help tell the story of Our Biosphere through photography. 

From dramatic coastlines and quiet glens to community life, culture and the everyday work that keeps the Island thriving, we’re looking for high‑quality photos that capture what makes the Isle of Man special.  

You don’t need to be a professional photographer to take part. Whether you use a camera or a phone, if your image reflects life in Our Biosphere, we’d love to see it. 

Photos can be submitted in the below categories:

• Environment (e.g. landscapes, seascapes, wildlife, habitats and people enjoying nature) 
• Community (e.g. culture, heritage, education, research and everyday Manx life) 
• Economy (e.g. local businesses, farming, fisheries, events and working life on the Island) 

There will be one winner in each category, with prizes including a Calf of Man boat trip for two (Environment), a Friends of Manx National Heritage annual membership (Community), and a Manx treats gift hamper (Economy).

All winners and runners‑up will also receive a digital Biosphere Photographer Badge to celebrate their contribution. 

To take part, upload your photos here before Tuesday 12th May 2026. Photos may be used in Biosphere publications and online, with full credit given to the photographer. 

This competition is a chance to showcase the places, people and moments that matter to you and to help build a shared picture of what Biosphere means in everyday life.
