Island hosts Biosphere gathering
The Island has been chosen to host the biannual meeting of the UK UNESCO Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Committee this Friday (17th June).
This important event comes just three months after UNESCO admitted the Island to the World Network of Biosphere Reserves, recognising it is ‘a special place for people and nature’.

Global accolade will boost Island’s status
The Isle of Man has earned a major global accolade from UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.
The Island has been awarded Biosphere Reserve status by UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere programme.
The Island is the first entire jurisdiction in the world to be awarded this accolade.
Biosphere Reserves are ‘special places for people and nature’. The recognition is awarded to areas that demonstrate a successful balance between the two.

Isle of Man Meats gets AA grade
The operating team at Isle of Man Meats has achieved a prestigious food safety certification, reflecting the rigorous standards it employs. Isle of Man Meats – which processes cattle, sheep and pigs from local farms – has gained the British Retail Consortium’s (BRC) AA certification.
