The Edelweiss Guest house has been participating in sustainable measures for a number of years now which are now embedded into everything the business does.
The Guest House supply recycling bins in all rooms for guests so they can responsibly and easily sort waste. There are water efficient toilets, LED lighting and double glazed windows throughout the building. Heat pump technology is used to clean and dry out bedding and towels and the guest house operates a towel reuse scheme. There are free Manx tap water refills for guests and electric vehicles are driven for business use.
The Edelweiss Guest House use local food and drink producers for breakfast and keep food waste to a minimum. They are also a business partner of Finest.im offering 15% discount to loyalty cardholders, encouraging local spending and growth to the Island economy. The business also use local tradespersons for any works on the building and buy locally for the business where possible.
Local artwork is displayed throughout the building and there are a selection of children's books written by a local author on sale, of which all proceeds go to The Great Laxey Mine Railway, a registered Manx charity.
The Edelweiss has taken part in Douglas in Bloom for several years and have won the competition a number of times.
The Edelweiss are a Gold Leader on Trip Adviser and have been awarded the Level 2 Travel Sustainability Award through Booking.com for demonstrating considerable investment and effort into the implement of impactful sustainable practices.
