Metis - Our Little World is a Junior Achievement group from Ramsey Grammar School, led by Year 12 students. Dedicated to environmental education, Metis aims to bridge the gap in climate awareness among younger generations. Their primary initiative is the development of an engaging and informative website tailored for children aged 7-11. Recognising the importance of climate education without inducing anxiety, they focus on delivering accessible and inspiring content to encourage positive action.
Metis is committed to fostering environmental awareness by educating children on the significance of protecting natural resources. Their approach extends beyond digital education, as they actively promote key environmental initiatives such as Beach Buddies and the concept of Carbon Handprints. By advocating for these efforts, they hope to instil a sense of responsibility and empowerment in young minds.
Beyond their online platform, Metis actively engages with the local community. Through their Instagram account (@metis_ja), they share educational content and updates about their work. Additionally, they have visited Bunscoil Rhumsaa to interact with students in Years 3, 5, and 6, discussing environmental topics and gathering insights into what children are eager to learn. This hands-on approach ensures their resources remain relevant and impactful.
