Johnny Trash are a local green garden waste collection service providing a subscription service to remove domestic green waste in a responsible manner, through providing bins and collection dates to their customers.
When Johnny Trash collect their customer’s garden waste it is delivered to a local facility which uses the energy efficient ‘windrow composting’ method. The waste is delivered to the site where it is shredded and placed into long rows (windrows) where it reaches temperatures of over 131 Fahrenheit for 3+ consecutive days producing a clean, high quality, weed and peat-free compost. After stabilisation, the compost is screened to around 28mm to make a variety of compost products.
This process uses less energy than other methods and produces high quality compost which is suitable for horticulture and is accredited to British Standard PAS: 100. This method creates a circular system and ultimately contributes to our local economy in a sustainable way.
Johnny Trash’s service also means less people will need to travel to local sites in order to dispose of their garden waste and so less travel emissions will be omitted and customers are given clear instructions stating what can and can’t be placed in the bin.
