Isle of Man Farmers' Markets

The Isle of Man Farmers' Markets (IOMFM) are a local food initiative, offering local food producers a trading place to market their produce direct to the consumer, supporting the local economy, reducing food miles and encouraging sustainable living.

Consumers can truly know what they are buying as IOMFM offer full traceability of products on offer.

Over the years IOMFM have seen small traders businesses grow and by transporting their products over shorter distances, traders cut down vehicle emissions, their carbon footprint and food miles. At present IOMFM offer four market venues around the Island which further reduces the distance consumers need to travel for local produce.

The IOMFM contribute sustainably to the local economy by selling produce that is grown, reared or produced in the Island and so benefitting the supplier directly and adding to the Manx economy.

The IOMFM attend both of the Island’s Agricultural Shows each year and some members attend the Food and Drink Festival. They attend other special events such as the Southern Vintage Tractor & Engine Show, pop up markets at corporate venues and more. These events help to reach a greater audience at which the reasons for buying local can be promoted.

The IOMFM offer venues to purchase fresh local produce, which also serve as a regular meeting place for people, and provides a safe space for elderly or vulnerable people who may be living alone and have limited contact with others. The IOMFM have become an integral part of our Island community and offered the public alternative venues to shop during the uncertainty of the Covid lockdowns.
