The Isle of Man Art Society was established in 1953 and encourages art of all descriptions, and from all walks of life. The society proudly has 300 members with a diversity in age and artistic output.

Artists are naturally good at recycling, whether they are swapping or salvaging materials, or painting over a canvas they no longer enjoy. These natural methods of reuse are part and parcel of the creation of arts.

The Isle of Man Art Society have been upgrading their hall in preparation for the winter and in a bid to reduce emissions. They have clad the front of their building and hope to invest in a new weather-tight front door. The society reduce printing and paper use by encouraging members to receive email updates instead of paper ones.

The society promote the Island's cultural heritage when they exhibit to the public many local aspects of the Island, including land and seascapes. They also give the public the opportunity to take a piece of Manx heritage home with them in the form of a piece of art.

The society are supported by UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man at their Easter Exhibition which runs annually and encourages all to take part. The result is an impressive selection of works of art across all mediums, celebrating our Biosphere Island and its connections.

Artists are naturally inspired by their beautiful surroundings on the Isle of Man and in 2023, the society launched a new event at the Royal Manx Agricultural Show. The exhibition showcased many aspects of the Island's landscape and a selection of animals and sea life too. There was a clay event in the marquee, inviting anyone to have a go at making a clay animal or item to recreate the Royal Manx Agricultural Show field and it is hoped that this will continue in future years.
