Island Escapes is a self catering holiday lettings agency that selects properties for their quality and features.
Island Escapes manages many of the properties it lets, on behalf of the owners so is able to educate guests and make conscious decisions with the properties it manages, examples are using eco-friendly products as much as it can and the installation of smart central heating controls in many properties to reduce usage.
Working with another Biosphere partner, RecycleCollect, a new recycling initiative has been launched at more than 70 of the properties fully managed by Island Escapes. The company is always looking at ways to reduce waste, particularly in reducing the unnecessary laundering of items.
Guests arriving at Island Escapes properties receive a welcome pack that includes a range of produce including Manx milk, butter, bread, cheese and local chocolates, supporting those local businesses. The company works with Isle of Man food and drink providers to enable guests to order additional items for their stay, or to take home.
The company is also part of the free Refill Scheme, run locally by UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man, and sponsors the water cooler in the departure lounge at the Isle of Man Airport.
Island Escapes is active in supporting the community. It has supported the work of Manx Wildlife Trust since 2018, raising over £20,000 as of 2024 for the local charity through an optional guest donation at time of booking. In 2024 Culture Vannin was added as a new charity. Money raised will be ringfenced to support local cultural events.
In addition, the company sponsors Isle Listen and its Tough Mucka event, a fun community event taking place in October 2024. They are also pleased to sponsor Malew Ladies' football team and Castletown Lawn Tennis Club.
The company strongly promotes UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man in its global marketing of the Isle of Man online and on social media.
