Grenaby Estates is an equestrian centre and farm with self-catering accommodation on site, found in the beautiful countryside of Ballasalla.
Grenaby Estates are committed to protecting our natural resources and strive to do so through various operations. Horse manure, a common waste product on the Estate, is added to the compost heap which is in turn used by the gardeners to create rich, fertile grounds, with plans to plant wildflower seeds across the Estate to attract butterflies, bees and other pollinators. No harmful chemicals are used on the fields of the Estate and bathroom products are organic.
Grenaby Estates contribute to our economy in a sustainable way through employing staff locally and using local food suppliers on the Estate and providing local produce and fresh farm eggs in their Welcome Pack for guests. Guests also receive an Information Pack including dining recommendations and relevant information around local suppliers, further contributing to our economy. They are also compiling an e-copy of their Guest Information Brochure with links to the Island’s glens, fishing trips, bike hire and trail information to cover a range of activities for a range of guests.
Grenaby Estates encourage their guests to visit local heritage sites and places of cultural significance. They have Loaghtan sheep which are a huge part of our culture and heritage and need protection. The business are also in the process of refreshing their accommodations and will use Manx Tartan cushions, throws, table runners and tea towels.
An exciting project is being worked up for next year known as The Loaghtan Safari, which will engage with the local community. Guests will be encouraged to go to a beautiful brough over the river with a Manx Produce picnic and look for the Loaghtan.
