  • Entering

Send 500 words or fewer about Manx nature or wildlife or how connecting with nature/wildlife makes you feel. You can send photos, too, if you wish, but this isn't essential. Make sure you keep the photos as JEPGs in case you win. Email Biosphere@gov.im marking your email 'Young Nature Writer 2022'. Make sure you include your name and age. You can also enter by post to Young Nature Writer 2022, DEFA, Thie Slieau Whallian, St John's, IM4 3AS.

  • Deadline/judging

The deadline for entries is 31st August 2022, meaning you have all spring and summer to be inspired by nature and put pen to paper - or fingers to keyboard. Judging will be in September 2022.

  • Prizes

Winning entries will be published in Isle of Man Newspapers and Manx Wildlife Trust's Manx Nature magazine. Prizes include a family membership of Manx Wildlife Trust and MWT goodies, and, from MOS, for the best bird-related entry, a pair of binoculars and bird guide.

  • Inter-Biosphere challenge

We are again teaming up with Dublin Bay Biosphere and Kerry Biosphere. The winning entry from each Biosphere will go forward to an inter-Biosphere final, with the overall winner receiving a nature experience.

  • Be inspired

Take inspiration from, or simply enjoy reading, last year's winning entries here.
